Those looking for a value-added "date night" on Valentine's Day may want to check out the Pinckney Players' next production.

"The Real Inspector Hound" offers murder, mystery and comedy served up in dinner theater format for $25 per person.

"This is incredibly affordable and it will be a fun night," says Kris Lovill, director.

In the show, two theater critics, played by Geoffrey Pettengill and Fred Kahle, think they're reviewing a play, but they end up in the middle of an Agatha Christie-style murder mystery at a country manor.

"It's witty, it makes you think and there are some surprises for the audience," Lovill says.

About the show:

• What: "The Real Inspector Hound," written by Tom Stoppard, the Academy Award-winning writer of "Shakespeare In Love." Directed by Kris and Steve Lovill. Produced by Lesley Pettengill.

• When: Feb. 13-14 and Feb. 20-21. Dinner served at 6:30 p.m. Show starts at 8 p.m.

• Where: Whispering Pines Golf Course & Banquet Center, 2500 Whispering Pines Drive, off McGregor Road, Hamburg Township.

• Tickets: $25 for dinner and show or $15 for dessert and show. Available online at www.pinckneyplayers.com or in Pinckney at Busch's, 1277 E. M-36, in Hamburg at Pinckney Community Education, 2100 E. M-36, and in Brighton at Brighton Tuxedo Shop, 8692 W. Grand River Ave., next to Gus' Carryout.
